Introducing
The Sustainable University:
Green Goals and
New Challenges for
Higher Education Leaders
Johns Hopkins University Press
James Martin and James E. Samels
Their fifth book, The Sustainable University, promises to be the most comprehensive, practitioner-driven resource yet published on how to implement sustainable decision-making at all levels of campus leadership. Martin and Samels, along with nationally recognized figures in sustainability leadership including Anthony (Tony) Cortese of Second Nature and Paul Rowland and Geoff Chase of AASHE, have spent the past three years developing sets of best practices, in particular, for presidents, provosts, and members of boards of trustees to help them move their institutions forward in critical areas related to sustainability, including renewable energy sources, green building strategies and endowment growth, and innovative degree and certificate programs, among many other resources.
