Judith Steinkamp, Consultant
Judith Steinkamp comes to the Alliance having served as Principal Planner for Master Planning at the University of Massachusetts Amherst campus. Her responsibilities include master planning, land-use planning and project planning, including system level plans for housing, athletics/recreation, and parking and transportation. She is actively involved in fostering Town/Gown Relations by planning campus and community forums, contributing as a panelist in discussions arranged by community organizations and participating in community committees such as the Joint Comprehensive Plan Committee. Ms. Steinkamp is engaged in initiating a public/private partnership between the university, the town, state agencies, and private partners to develop affordable housing for families. She consults with colleges, universities, and communities about forming campus and community alliances.
Ms. Steinkamp has been involved in planning and coordinating several major town/gown conferences and has published several national prominent journal articles on the subject of campus and community relations. She has spoken at a number of national conferences and regional events on the topic of campus and community planning approaches.
In the fifteen years prior to joining the University, Ms. Steinkamp held positions as Project Director, Project Manager, and Designer in the corporate design field in Los Angeles.
Ms. Steinkamp holds two degrees from UMass Amherst, a Masters degree in Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning and a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts/Education. She also holds a Masters of Science degree in Applied Arts from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
